E-PortfolioAn e-portfolio is an electronic collection of student's work that provides evidence of student achievement. The e-portfolio is a collection of student work that will follow them throughout their schooling and provide a snapshot of their learning each year. Students, teachers and parents have access to reflect and comment on each learning piece. Documents, photos, audios and videos can be uploaded by both the student and/or teacher.
If you decide to use e-portfolios, remember to check where the data is being stored so you are abiding by the FIPPA laws. School District #72 uses the Scholantis Student Portfolio website which has it’s server and data storage in Victoria, BC, Canada. Since the data is housed in Canada, District #72 teachers don’t have to worry about students having their names displayed on their work. However, it is still important to have parental permission for students to use the site as the permission also provides parents with information on safeguarding their child’s password. E-portfolios allow for various types of Math content to be added, edited and reflected on by the teacher and/or student.

Audio and Visual Apps for Assessment to Add to E-PortfolioDraw and Tell by Duck, Duck Moose.
Draw and Tell allows students to create Mathematical stories using backgrounds, stickers, characters, stencils and drawing tools. Once they have drawn their story they can add a voice recording. Students are able to move the stickers around during recording to add action to their story. They can save their recording to share with others or to upload to their e-portfolio. This is a great assessment tool as you could assign a problem and students could explain their thinking as to how they can solve it. This is an easy app to use for younger students because the icons that the students tap are clearly marked showing what each means. The only con is that once the story is recorded students can not go back and edit it. Cost: Free Live link: www.duckduckmoose.com/educational-iphone-itouch-apps-for-kids/draw-and-tell/ |
