Carla Takach. B.Ed., B.Ed. Grad. Dip. (Online Learning and Teaching diploma) MEdL Candidate,
Grade 2/3 teacher, Sandowne Elementary School, Campbell River, BC.
Hello!
I am a proud mother of two children, Tamara and Jonathan. I have a very supportive husband, Phil. I grew up among my five siblings in northern Saskatchewan and moved to Campbell River with my parents and younger brother and sister in my senior year of high school. After graduation I continued my education in Victoria before returning to Campbell River to teach.
I currently teach grade 2/3 at Sandowne Elementary School in Campbell River, BC. I have 25 years teaching experience in Campbell River and have spent the vast majority of my career teaching at the primary level. After seeing the results of how technology engages my students, I decided to returned to school to better my craft. I completed an Online Learning Teaching Diploma through Vancouver Island University in 2018 and decided to pursue a Masters in Leadership with a focus on using Blended Learning to enhance Mathematical Numeracy in the primary grades. When I am not teaching I love to read, cook and spend time with my extended family. I enjoy spending time outdoors gardening, camping, skiing, hiking and boating. I also enjoy listening to music as I studied classical piano and both my children as well as my parents are musically talented. Fitness is important to me, I like going to the gym with friends in the mornings before school and relish the evening walks with my husband and our faithful companion Tucker - a Maltese Shihtzu.
